Hi, we are MADE IN GBG
MADE IN GBG is a small family business where we, Daniel and Amanda, design and manufacture lighting and interior design with a focus on sustainability and care.
We work with local suppliers and retailers to deliver products that we feel proud of, and that you will be satisfied with today and for many years to come. That is important to us.
The materials we are currently working with are primarily wood and metal, but as we develop the company and design new products, we expect to test many more materials! Trying out new ideas here in the workshop or together with you is pretty much the most fun thing we know. We are passionate about the personal meeting and you are always welcome to contact us!
Welcome to MADE IN GBG!
Unique lighting for amazing places
Our goal is to create lighting and interior design entirely according to your wishes, to spread joy and give your favorite place that little extra. Or perhaps create your meow Favorite place? We work with local suppliers and by hand, which means there is a story behind every single product and each product becomes completely unique.
Who are we then?
Daniel
Daniel is a design engineer from Södertälje and was working on designing lighting controls when he started this journey. He is the creative and driven problem solver behind MADE IN GBG, and there is literally zero problem he cannot solve.
He loves to puzzle things out and smiles all the way up to his ears when he gets to tackle a new project or talk to people!
Amanda
Amanda is a UX designer and MADE IN GBG's marketing ninja. She grew up just outside Gothenburg and is the one who structures our daily lives and makes sure everyone keeps a good (read: high) blood sugar level. Lists are her best friend and without her, MADE IN GBG wouldn't have an online presence.
Pretty much nothing makes her as happy as pick-and-mix candy!
Our history
During Christmas 2021, Daniel’s creative juices started flowing, and he founded MADE IN GBG alongside his full-time job. At first, he focused on the maps, and within the very first 24 hours, he received over 40 orders!
During the spring, Daniel was in the middle of moving in with Amanda <3. Amanda lived at that time by the very famous proverb “rather several small cozy lamps than a spotlight on the ceiling” and therefore had no proper ceiling light in the living room. Daniel could not live like that. So he said, as he so often does, that he could make his own lamp. Do it then, Amanda said. No sooner said than done, LOTUS born.
After the success of the paintings, we realized we needed our own space, and MADE IN GBG moved into its own cozy eight-square-meter studio at HantVerket Väst in the Slakthus area in Gamlestaden, Gothenburg.
Daniel sold paintings at the Christmas market at Nääs Fabriker and needed lighting to display the artwork. He brought our living room lamp there, but never got it back home again. It was sold. Right then and there, a small seed was planted that the lamps might become a part of MADE IN GBG...
About a month later, in the middle of the Christmas hustle and bustle, a happy accident occurred and the lamp family grew with the addition of a new model: scrunchie!
Soon there was almost more focus on the lights than on the paintings. Daniel worked during this time as a design engineer at a company that manufactures lighting controls. Can he not get enough of lighting, you might wonder? No, is the answer. He cannot.
MADE IN GBG quickly outgrew its lovely little studio in Gamlestaden and moved into larger premises in the Jonsered factories, just outside Gothenburg. Imagine, a workshop all of our own! A historic brick building in the old factory area offered a full 110 square meters of possibilities waiting for us.
Daniel is exhibiting at FORMEX and also has the honor of featuring a whole sea of lamps in Lena Nyholm's incredible exhibition at the entrance to the exhibition hall. During the production ahead of the fair, yet another new lamp was born, NOVA, and after FORMEX, inquiries start coming in for several major projects for clients such as AMF, Schibsted, Strawberry, and Microsoft!
Amanda officially becomes part of MADE IN GBG!
So much happened during the year that it's hard to include everything!
We exhibited at the Stockholm Furniture Fair and gained many new customers, and through them the opportunity to sell to public environments and projects.
FINALLY it was time! Daniel quit the electric car industry and is now fully dedicated to MADE IN GBG!
